Announcing the Upcoming Recitals

PIANO TUNERS:

Once again if you have not had your piano tuned, now is absolutely the best time to have it done,
since it is between seasons. The dryness of winter is over and the humidity of the summer is
upon us.

Here is the contact information for two piano tuners I'd recommend.

Notes on rehearsals:

The performance pieces must be ready or almost ready by the dates listed
above to be considered for inclusion in the actual concerts

Drop in anytime between the times listed above and play your piece, listen
to a few people play, and leave. To
get the most out of the rehearsal period, it is best to select a time when you know that other people
will be there since as we all know it is a little harder to play in front of an audience than to play to an
empty room.

The reasons for the drop in rehearsal are:
1) to get used to the library’s piano
2) practice playing your piece several times in front of the small audience that happens to be there
3) get last minute feedback on your performance pieces
4) to not get lost on the day of the concert

There will be 3 signup sheets in my studio where you will

1) Select which concert you will attend
2) Select the approximate time that you plan on dropping in for the rehearsal
3) Sign up for a refreshment that you will agree to bring to the concert. Please try to remember to
bring utensils for your refreshment. i.e. if you are bringing a beverage, also bring cups; if you are
bringing chips, also bring a basket or bowl. I will supply the napkins and the tablecloth.

All pieces that will be performed must be ready by the date of the rehearsal. (I know I have already
said this but I can’t say this enough.)

Also, keep in mind that attendance at the concert is not mandatory but if you do decide to attend
you must arrive on time and agree to stay for the entire concert.

The purpose of a piano concert is to:
1) learn how to perform in front of an audience
2) listen to the performances of the other players

Therefore the audience has to be there. It is too disruptive to the other performers to be either
arriving late or leaving early. But, of course, the main reason to stay and listen is that everyone will
sound terrific!
